A Different Kind of Virtual Airline

Our focus is on fixed-wing, aeromedical transport

JUNEAU, AK - Alaskans pride themselves on self-reliance and an ability to survive in the wilderness.  An injury on a Los Angeles street might be treated within minutes; in the wooded mountains above Ketchikan or Yakutat, an accident victim might wait days for help.  Fast, well-equipped, short field capable aircraft are an essential part of Alaska's Trauma-Emergency Medical Services System.

In remote areas of Alaska, patients requiring routine care must often travel hundreds of miles to see a doctor.  Those who cannot travel may wait months for proper medical care.  Medically configured aircraft can bring doctors to their patients in the far reaches of Alaska and serve as a mobile medical facility.

The aeromedical division of 8 Star Aviation is dedicated to simulating this highly demanding type of flying.  Our pilots fly day and night, in all forms of weather, often without assistance from air traffic control, in order to quickly and safely transport patients requiring immediate or critical medical care.  Our destinations seldom have published instrument approaches, refueling facilities, or well-kept runways.

At present, 8 Star AeroMedical flies only the Beechcraft Super King Air B200, with one at each of our bases in Juneau, Ketchikan, and Yakutat.

Operations at each of the three bases is divided into three categories: Emergency transport, patient transfer, and flying doctor service.  Depending on the type of mission, flights may be governed by Federal Aviation Regulations Part 91 or Part 135.

Why Our Planes Display The Make-A-Wish Logo

Discover the power of a wish!

In 2001, I had the honor of helping to fulfill the wish of a 6 year-old boy to become a Top Gun pilot.  The experience was one I will never forget, and I heartily encourage everyone to support the Make-A-Wish Foundation in whatever way they can, by donating time and talent, money, and even frequent flier miles.
